The Independent National Electoral Commission has called on Nigerians to disregard results being posted on the social media for the Kogi State governorship election as the figures were inaccurate.
Following the conclusion of the election, reports started emerging online from polling units with some sites claiming one candidate or the other in the lead.
But INEC in a tweet warned against reliance on such figures.
“INEC wishes to state that results of Kogi gov election being posted on Social Media are inaccurate and should be disregarded #KogiDecides,” the electoral commission tweeted.
It added, “Official results will subsequently be announced and the winner of the election declared by the INEC returning officer.”
