GOV AMBODE’S CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO THE VICTORIOUS GOLDEN EAGLETS

                         Golden Eaglets celebrate after defeating Mexico in the semi-final of the ongoing U-17 world cup
Governors Akinwunmi Ambode and Ifeanyi Okowa of Lagos and Delta states respectively have have showered praises on the Golden Eaglets for the victorious FIFA U-17 world cup campaign.
The Eaglets defeated Mali 2 – 0 in the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 Wold cup to secure a historic fifth world title.

Gov Ambode hoped the performance of the Eaglets in the finals ushers in new dawn in Nigerian football.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, Ambode congratulated the players, coaches and techincal team for a victorious campaign.
He said: “This is another eloquent testimony to the fact that Nigeria is a great country with enormous potential and we can achieve anything and everything if we are united and determined towards a course or a target.”
“In the opening minutes of the final match when the Nigerian team lost a penalty, they did not lose their heads, but remained focused on the task. Even when they went two goals ahead, they didn’t allow complacency to set in. This is commendable and inspiring and I can only hope that it signals the beginning of the return to the glory days of Nigerian football”.
“On behalf of the good people of Lagos State, I congratulate the victorious team, the technical team and all the backroom staff for this feat.”
Governor Okowa on his part praised the team for producing the highest goal scorer (Victor Osimhen with 10 goals) and tournament MVP (captain Kelechi Nwakali).
